The project of "The Food and Health City - Milano Food Village" offers the creation of structures destined to establish an excellence pole for the agro-food area of complementary services and accessories for the wholesales Markets of Milan, as well as for health and environment. The project establishes the first phase of a wider industrial plan settled to the entire structural reorganization and organization of the Milanese wholesale Markets, in which is expected the creation of a modern agro-food logistic and a multifunctional centre of integrated services. This project intends to donate to Milan a permanent excellence platform in the agro-food field considering even the assignment of Expo 2015 in Milan and/or other institutional manifestations, with the purpose to represent, nevertheless and in any case, the prime Italian site of innovative distribution and diffusion of Italian and foreign food products. This project was accepted by Milano Restorazione plc and points out, as a qualifying feature the application of advanced technology on a sustainable development level, with special attention to the ecological sustainability of all interventions, with particular attentiveness to water and energy saving and the use of alternative and/or renewable sources. The project, being the integrated result of the redesigning of functions in service of and/or connected to general Markets, re-engineered according to the new logic of platform logistic in the food market, it unites and integrates functions that appear compatible with the present urban area destination (destination of urban planning of the food administration structures for the wholesale commercial distribution and establishments and compatible services), even if an accurate check/control will be carried out only with a preliminary project. The project of ""The Food and Health City" - Milan Food Village" was introduced by the mayor of Milan, Letizia Moratti, with the participation of the Prime Minister, Prof. Romano Prodi and other institutional people, in Paris on the 26th of November 2007 at the Bureau International des Expositions. On the 5th of February 2008, the project was further illustrated to the delegates BIE in Milan in occasion of the Forum Expo - Milan 2015 "Working together for Food safety, Food Safety and Healthy Lifestyles". SO.GE.M.I. In agreement with the Expo Committee introduced the project in occasion of the fruit logistic 2008 of Berlin through the exposition of the plastic model of "The Food and Health City" and the distribution of illustrative brochures. For the development of the project, on the 25th of March 2008, proceeded to forming of a new company, called SO.GE.M.I. Food ltd, a 100% subsidiary of SO.GE.M.I. Plc, with contextual ordinance to a branch of the company afferent to the Meats area; as to be able to operate with an autonomous subject, in order to favour even the research of external partners. |
